Preparing for the Holiday Island Suburban Improvement District work sessions, special meetings and regular government business meetings requires a lot of research and organization.
Coming up this month is a work session where the county sheriff has been asked to attend and answer questions regarding an extension contract with the county. This meeting is followed by three days of orientations on location at all departments. The H.I.S.I.D. board of commissioners held a special meeting on Feb. 4 to begin a contract with CH2M Hill OMI. New regulations by the State and EPA requires the new waste water treatment plant to have an operations manager with a Class 4 license.
A special meeting will be held February 25 to discuss marketing options. CNj will be there to hear and report the options that are presented.
February 28 is the regular meeting and there are new contracts being signed, old contracts that maybe have been negotiated by now and what ever else becomes new business.
Do come and listen. Commissioner Dixie Mills suggested when she joined the board this year that the board readjust the budget regular.
It is illegal in the State of Arkansas to operate with a negative budget. It will be a tough year with some tough decisions for operating the community.
